The General Teaching Council for Scotland

Supporting pupils with maths research study

Teaching practitioners are invited to participate in a research study, investigating support strategies which teachers use for pupils’ maths learning in Scotland.

This study is being conducted by Sumin Deng, Ying Liu, Honghui Wang from Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh and is supervised by Dr. Josie Booth.

The purpose of the research study is to identify the types of support strategies which are used for pupils with maths learning difficulty, how are they administered, what the effectiveness of those support strategies is,
and what are the viewpoints of teachers towards different support strategies. The questionnaire will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Your participation in this study is entirely voluntary. The team would be very grateful
if you would consider completing this questionnaire and passing it to any other teachers or head teachers in Scotland, who may wish to complete it too.
